Do You Need to See a Prosthodontist?
What is a prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a dentist who went to the traditional four years of dental school. After dental school they go for an additional 2-3 years of specialized training. They are recognized as specialists in prosthodontics.
What does a prosthodontist do?
They are specialists in anything relating to crowns & bridges, dentures, implants and cosmetic dentistry. They can also be trained in maxillofacial, reconstructive procedures, occlusion, bioethics and the like.
When do you need to go to a prosthodontist?
If a general dentist is having difficulty with your implant or crown they usually will send you to a prosthodontist. Generally speaking prosthodontists take over when dentists run into problems. But why not go to the expert in the first place before problems arise?
They are experts in fixed and removable dental appliances.
