Princeton Prosthodontics - The Fine Art of Cosmetic Dentistry

Why a Prosthodontist, Not a Cosmetic Dentist?

Recognized as one of nine dental specialties
by the American Dental Association (ADA), prosthodontics involves the diagnosis and treatment of serious oral health problems,
as well as the care of patients in need
of restorative and reconstructive dentistry. Prosthodontics requires two to three additional years of schooling above and beyond general dentistry school.

Cosmetic dentistry is not one of the nine recognized specialties and requires no additional training outside of the minimum
four years of general
dentistry schooling.
Most cosmetic dentists
received their training
during only a few
weekend workshops
and are not certified
specialists.

Years of Training and Experience

A graduate of the University of
Notre Dame, Michael R. Cortese
received his Doctor of Medical
Dentistry from the Fairleigh
Dickinson University School of
Dentistry and his Certificate in
Maxillofacial Prosthetics and
Dental Oncology from the
University of Texas Health Science Center M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute.

Dr. Cortese is one of only 350 maxillofacial prosthodontists worldwide, as documented by the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and he is the director of Princeton Prosthodontics, located in Princeton, New Jersey.

An Extreme Smile Makeover Can Be an Extreme Disaster If You Don’t Seek the Expertise of a Trained Specialist

A beautiful smile can brighten your face and enhance your self-esteem – so why entrust it to anyone but the best? In addition to the four years of dental school, a prosthodontist must complete an additional three years of training in a graduate education program of prosthodontics. To become a maxillofacial prosthodontist, an additional two to three years of rigorous training in facial reconstruction and shaping is required, giving your results a better chance of standing the test of time.
